| The Fairmont Area Community Resource Committee was formed in 2004. The group
began meeting to investigate the needs for a community center in Fairmont where meetings,
classes, youth events and recreation could take place.
After combining all of the information gathered (see the RESEARCH tab above), the
Committee determined that the initial action desired is to have the City of Fairmont take a
leadership role in coordinating the available facilities and programming.
The Committee has met with the City Council of Fairmont and requested that tax dollars
be devoted to fund staff and office space for a coordinator position. A petition with over
300 signers was presented to the City Council (see the
MY SUPPORT
page above for more information).
